UFC Targeting Summer for Junior dos Santos vs. Alistair Overeem

MMA fans may have to wait until the summer to watch Junior dos Santos fight Alistair Overeem for the UFC heavyweight title.

"Hopefully in the summer," UFC president Dana White said when asked by FUEL TV's "UFC Tonight" about when the title fight will take place. "Dos Santos is ready, but Overeem wants to take a break."

Overeem defeated Brock Lesnar via first-round TKO at UFC 141 to earn a shot at the title, while dos Santos defeated Cain Velasquez in November to win the heavyweight belt.

Overeem was asked following UFC 141 whether he would be interested in fighting dos Santos later this year in Brazil, but "The Reem" scoffed at the idea and said he would rather the fight happened in Las Vegas.

Dos Santos had successful knee surgery following the Velasquez fight, but he said recently that he should be back to 100 percent later this week.

"This is one of those fights where no matter where this ends up, it'll be exciting," White added. "But I see this fight standing up and finding out who hits the hardest and who has the best chin."
