(AP) ? Pakistan's military says the top U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan is scheduled to visit to hold discussions with the country's army chief.

The military statement says Gen. John Allen's meeting Thursday with Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani will partly focus on ways to improve coordination with forces on either side of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

It is Allen's first visit since Pakistan ended its seven-month blockade of supplies for NATO troops in Afghanistan in early July. Pakistan closed the route through the country in November in retaliation for American airstrikes that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers.

Pakistan agreed to reopen the supply line after the U.S. apologized for the deaths, which it says were accidental.

The U.S. and Pakistan signed an agreement regulating the shipment of troop supplies to Afghanistan on Tuesday.
